February 6, 2010 is Ronald Reagan’s 99th Birthday

by Uncle Abe on February 6, 2010

Few Americans have made the kind of impact on the world that Ronald Reagan did.

Reagan was a visionary. He never accepted the status quo, no matter how forcefully the establishment tried to grind it into him.

His view of a world without a Soviet Union was scoffed at by the foreign policy pundits and intellectuals. Who’s laughing now?

Those of us in the Brooklyn Republican Party who were active in his 1976 campaign saw something that most Americans — even most Republicans — took several more years to comprehend.

Brooklyn Republicans took a lot of heat for endorsing Reagan in 1976 and even in 1980. Few decisions were as easy — or as right.

Happy Birthday, Mr. President.
